Who We Are: Attendings
Dr.
Jay R. Lieberman is Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of the New England Musculoskeletal Institute. Dr. Bruce D. Browner is Chair Emeritus and Residency Program
Director. There are 11 full-time faculty at the University of Connecticut Health Center
and the New England Musculoskeletal Institute. There are 28 clinical orthopaedic surgery faculty at
Hartford Hospital and 20 clinical orthopaedic surgery faculty at
Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center under the direction of the Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. There are
five full-time faculty at the
Connecticut Children's Medical Center who are closely associated
with the University's educational commitment.
Many Hartford area surgeons participate as clinical
faculty in the training of residents at the affiliated hospitals. The
vast majority of these surgeons are fellowship trained. They are truly
committed to resident education. There are also numerous clinicians and
basic scientists in the New England Musculoskeletal Institute that are
active participants in clinical and basic science musculoskeletal
research. The University of Connecticut, has a long tradition of
excellence in basic research and it is one of the longer research
programs in the U.S. Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is actively
recruiting new faculty in a variety of orthopaedic subspecialties.
