Orthopaedic Surgery Residency
Who We Are
The accredited, five-year residency program in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine is designed to
enable residents develop graduated levels of
responsibility with each surgical rotation. The residents gain experience in many disciplines from both clinical and basic science perspectives. There is ample exposure to
musculoskeletal trauma and complicated fractures, joint replacements, arthritis and osteoporosis treatment, bone infection, foot and ankle, hand and upper extremity, sports medicine,
arthroscopy, and spine surgery. The weekly case conference is the
foundation for our educational initiatives. It is goal is to
teach residents to critically evaluate both current and new
treatment regimes. Residents encounter a full range of challenging adult and pediatric orthopaedic cases as they rotate through the affiliated hospitals, which
