Bruce D. Browner, M.D., M.S.
Dr. Bruce Browner is a professor in the Department of Orthopaedic
Surgery at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He is an internationally renowned orthopaedic trauma surgeon with
extensive experience in the treatment of complex fractures, nonunions, malunions and bone infections.
Dr. Browner manages patients
with very difficult and challenging problems who are referred by
other orthopaedic surgeons from all parts of Connecticut and the
northeast. Care is enhanced by a longstanding collaboration with
Edward Pesanti, M.D., an infectious diseases specialist, who
sees patients with him in the office every week.
Dr. Browner holds the Harry and Helen Gray and Harry Gossling
Chair in Orthopaedic Surgery. He served as chairman of the
Department of Orthopaedic Surgery from 1992 until 2006. He is past president of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and senior
editor of Skeletal Trauma, a two volume fracture text that is
read all over the world. A former member of the Board of
Directors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, he
now serves on its Council on Advocacy. He is a member of the
Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons and a
member of its committee on Quality Improvement and Patient
Safety.
