Jay R. Lieberman, M.D.
Dr. Lieberman was appointed director of the New England Musculoskeletal Institute and professor and chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of
Connecticut Health Center in September, 2006. Prior to his arrival at UConn, Dr. Lieberman was a professor of orthopaedic surgery at the UCLA School of Medicine.
He has established an international reputation for his expertise related to primary and revision total hip and knee arthroplasty and treatment of osteonecrosis of the hip and knee.
He is also interested in the influence of novel pain protocols, small incision surgery, aggressive physical therapy and deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis on the outcomes after total
joint replacement.
Dr. Lieberman is a member of both the prestigious Hip Society and Knee Society. In addition, he is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Association.
He has published more than 130 articles and book chapters and he recently co-edited a book entitled Advanced Reconstruction: Hip.
