R. Alexander Mohr, M.D.
Dr. R. Alexander Mohr is an assistant professor with a joint
appointment in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the
Division of Neurosurgery at the University of Connecticut Health
Center. He is the assistant director of the Comprehensive Spine
Center at the New England Musculoskeletal Institute. Dr. Mohr
completed a prestigious fellowship in orthopaedic spine surgery
at the University of Wisconsin. He specializes in the operative
management of disorders of the neck and back including:
discectomy, laminectomy, fusion and vertebroplasty.

Research Interests
Clinical Research
- Dr. Mohr’s main clinical research interest is assessing
the results of spinal surgery for outcomes following: lumbar
discectomy, spinal fusion surgery and decompressive
laminectomy.
Basic Science Research
- Dr. Mohr and co-investigators are evaluating new methods
to enhance fusion of the spine by studying various bone
graft substitutions and innovative spinal instrumentation.
